Before I met Maria Elena Rodriguez, I was already familiar with the feeling that she gives people. This Renaissance woman works hard for her community and inspires everybody with whom she makes contact. Rodriguez has devoted much of her efforts to the progression of Mexicantown and the Hispanic community as a whole.
For God’s sake, if you know you have everything to earn a good life, pull your weight and give the rest of us a break. I don’t appreciate having to work my butt off to hold up some lazy jerk. I have my own life to worry about.
It is inspiring to me, as a Latino, to see diverse depictions of Latinos that capture the full spectrum of our emotions and experiences, while showcasing our homegrown talent. Do yourself a favor, stop by Matrix Theatre and support this community treasure. Let’s show that world what we, Michigan Latinos, can do.
