How To Reach The Hispanic Market

Mi Estilo held its inaugural networking event Business & Pleasure. It took place at Vicente Cuban Cuisine in the heart of downtown Detroit on Thursday, November 19th.  It started off with some networking among its diverse attendees that drew from a number of different industries.  The highpoint was a PowerPoint presentation by marketing professional, Pablo Calonge that discussed some of the things to consider in marketing to the emerging Hispanic market.

Calonge’s presentation was extremely accessible and very informative. He included statistics to put into perspective the Hispanic market’s current size and buying power, as well as projections on its future.  In addition, he mentioned about the importance of learning Spanish, as we are coming into an increasingly globalized world.  For example, he mentioned how Brazil, which has Portuguese as its official language, also speaks Spanish—as most of its neighbors are Spanish speaking.  For them it makes perfect sense to speak another language, in order to conduct commerce as they, themselves, will be one of the world’s emerging markets.  Also, he included some commercials and campaigns that he has worked on to illustrate many of his points.  Even me who has spoken Spanish his whole life walked away learning quite a bit.

For those of you that were unable to attend, we will be sure to post Pablo Calonge’s presentation.  So not only will you see what kind of event that we had but also the type that you can look forward to.
