I’ve always wondered why it is perfectly acceptable when men are promiscuous? Why are women frowned upon for the same behavior? Are women not allowed to enjoy sex? Most guys are considered playas or pimps when they juggle many sexual partners, while women are considered hoes or sluts.  NOT FAIR!

Just like most Latino families growing up, we were always taught that we, girls, should save ourselves for the man that we would spend our lives with. Sure, I was a good girl growing up but now that I’m much older, I somewhat regret it. In most cases, what happens to good girls? They save themselves for that special guy-a guy that has already been with several girls by the time he decides to settle down. In reality, what has the girl really saved herself for? She has saved herself for a guy who has shared himself but expects to settle down with a pure girl. What’s wrong with this picture? I’ll tell you what’s wrong…it’s 2009 not 1609!

Don’t get me wrong. It’s never okay for anyone to have unsafe sex. However, it is okay for two consenting adults to have responsible sex. It is okay to enjoy sex whether you are a guy or a girl. Guys, if you expect a pure girl, then save yourself too. It’s not fair that she should go without for a guy who couldn’t do the same. That’s selfish! Ladies, enjoy sex. If you decide to have sex, by all means, use a condom and get busy! Life is short. Enjoy it!
