Mama Maria’s Guacamole

I am from Mexico and this recipe has been in my family for generations. I am sharing this recipe so that you can also enjoy this delicious guacamole.

The recipe will serve 4 people but can be doubled for a larger quantity.

Ingredients:

  • 1 fresh lime
  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 2 tsps of finely chopped onion
  • 1 medium tomato chopped into small pieces
  • About 1/4 cup finely chopped cilantro
  • Salt

Directions:

  1. Put finely chopped onion into a mixing bowl along with 1 tablespoon of freshly squeezed lime juice.
  2. Add cilantro and tomato to bowl and mix everything together.
  3. Take skin off of avocado. Chop avocado into small pieces and add to mixing bowl. Mash avocado with a spoon (you may add avocado pit to bowl to help keep avocado color lasting longer).
  4. Add salt to taste and mix everything together.

You can serve with chips. It can also be used in  tortillas or as a spread on your favorite sandwich.

Enjoy!
