Pull Your Weight and Give Me A Break!

Pull Your Weight and Give Me A Break!

Did you know that there are devices that turn your ice cream cone so that you don’t have to physically lick it? Things like remote controls and ordering pizza by email might make our lives easier, but they’re also evidence that our society has become extremely lazy.

The worst place for people to be lazy is at work.  A while back, I used work at a toy store.  Little kids would throw toys everywhere and puke on the floor.  I had to deal with these things and more.  One of the girls I worked with was the laziest person on earth, although she had the same job as me.  However, she would stand around instead of cleaning, act like a jerk to customers and do nothing.  While you were working, she’d say how much work there was and do none of it.

Now, I work at a department store where it’s slightly less annoying because I don’t have to work with the same few people all the time. However, there are still those people who take 20 minutes to do just one thing, taking breaks in between and acting like they don’t realize that there’s a lot of work that you end up doing.  It is so irritating when you’re the only person working and are left to do all of the work of your lazy co-workers. In my opinion, business expert Guy Browning, explains it best: “Lazy people actually lead very full lives because they take [a very] long time to do simple things like photocopying.  In order to fill their days…they select the most trivially unimportant aspect of a job and devote their whole energy to it.”  That is exactly what the people I’ve worked with have done.  I think that if you’re getting paid to work, then work! Slackers screw up other people’s lives.

My generation has become too accustomed to getting things handed to them.  Kids are babied by parents that buy everything for them and fight their battles.  So now, they expect the same from the rest of the world.  As a result of this self-entitlement comes cheating, half-baked work and, increasingly, obesity because nobody wants to get up from their T.V. or computer.

People need to wake up and realize that nobody is going to carry them.  Parents need to see that babying their kids will ruin them because they will be hated for their laziness.  When people get everything handed to them, they will expect that same treatment from everybody.  This seriously irritates those of us who have to work our asses off for what we have.  Now, I know life isn’t always “fair.”  For God’s sake, if you know you have everything to earn a good life, pull your weight and give the rest of us a break.  I don’t appreciate having to work my butt off to hold up some lazy jerk. I have my own life to worry about.
