Has anyone else been obsessed with the Royal Wedding coverage like I have? I started getting sucked into the coverage about a month ago as shows like Entertainment Tonight and Access Hollywood began to give the play by play action leading up to the big day. As the wedding got closer so did my obsession. I found myself watching all the specials on TV about how Prince William met Kate Middleton, Prince William’s relationship with his mother, Story of the British Monarchy, and I even watched a special that specifically talked about how the church was to be decorated.
I even found myself DVRing the specials I was going to miss because of work. It seriously became an obsession! This past Friday, “Wedding Day,” I even found myself getting up at 5:00 am to watch the wedding live. (I never get up that early…NEVER!) I just had to see it though, watching recaps later in the day was just not going to cut it for me. The wedding turned out to be beautiful and met all of my expectations as I sat on the couch with my dog watching the coverage. A few tears even escaped from my eyes onto my cheeks as Kate began to make her way down the aisle of Westminster Abbey.
When you grow up reading and watching fairy tales like Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and The Little Mermaid you can’t help but watch a real life fairy tale. Now some might think I am crazy or pathetic for my obsession. I look at it like this though….some people like their sports and others like American Idol. I liked the Royal Wedding!
